The Monday After

Merry Post-Christmas!  Are you guys all still high on tinsel and led lights like I am?  Part of that buzz may be exhaustion, but I'll take it.  I hope you all had the merriest Christmas of your lives and have minimal returns to deal with this week!

We buzzed around the state celebrating Christmas with various family members, each celebration as merry and bright as the one before it.  Today we are winding the heck DOWN!  My house is in shambles (you could said it's a ChristMESS), my kids need to eat something with nutritional value, and I need to regroup and reflect on the awesomeness that was our holiday weekend; and of course start thinking about taking decorations down.  Boo!  I mean Christmas is only 363 shopping days away... maybe I should just leave it all up?

M and A received some lovely gifts, but the thing Molly can't stop talking about?  The chocolate coins Santa left in her stocking.  Seriously?  I could have saved so much money.  Next year she's getting a truckload of chocolate coins and we're calling it a day!  Of course I'm sure the girls' favorite gifts are actually the leg warmers I knitted them (see below) and the prayers I wrote and framed for them.  A kid's Christmas dream come true, right?  Ha!

Even though the holiday season is winding down, the best commercials are right around the bend!  New Year's always brings a host of good alcoholic ads (my dad was kind enough to bring this commercial to my attention.  Thanks Dad!) and after that is.... Superbowl!  Weeee!  Get your commercial watching faces on readers!

Pieland Island

I love Northern Michigan!  It's so relaxing and rejuvenating.  We're back from Mackinaw Island and it was a boatload of fun!  Here are the girls and I having a picnic after biking around all morning:

In honor of Northern Michigan I'm including a Kid Rock song for your rocking out pleasure.  In honor of islands, I've got an island commercial for you, and a Bud Light one at that!  All this island living got me thinking about the age old question: what books would I take with me to a dessert island?  (That's not a typo by the way.  My imaginary island has cupcakes falling from trees instead of coconuts, and pieces of pie walking around instead of crabs).  My list* changes daily, but here it is for today:
1.  The Harry Potter series. (yes, I count that as one giant book, ok?  It's my flippin' island.)
2.  To Kill A Mockingbird (which I may need to do, should I get sick of the sweets)
3.  Where the Red Fern Grows (a childhood fave- plus, I may get much needed hunting tips)
4.  Triathlon Training for Dummies (I may as well stay in shape, especially with all the fatty foods around)
5.  Hatchet (another childhood fave with beaucoup survival tips)

*This doesn't include the Bible of course.  That will be in the nightstand.  Oh, your imaginary island doesn't have a Hilton?  That stinks.

Bud Light, Bud Bright, First Bud I Drink Tonight

As it turns out, some of my favorite things have the initials B.L. They are my daddy's initials; my favorite TV show (Biggest Loser); Big Love; Baby Legs (fat ones). Those last two are a stretch I know, but here's why I brought up B.L. to begin with: BUD LIGHT! I can live without the actual beverage, but (as you probably know by now) their commercials are second to none! This one is courtesy of my mom of all people, who got it from her brother. The best part is it takes place in the same office as my other favorite Bud Light ad (see Ad Bits Readers' Choice Award 2009). Must find out if said workplace is hiring.

A Note: Molly was on my lap when I opened this and watched it the first time. Halfway through she began chanting, "Na-ked Daddies, Na-ked Daddies". Yup, I'm Mother of the Year.

The Results Are In....

And the 2009 Ad Bits Readers' Choice Award goes to....

BUD LIGHT! Thank you Bud Light for making swearing in the workplace absolutely hilarious! People all over the world (?) will thank you by drinking hundreds of thousands of Bud Lights this very night.
