I Used To Be A Renegade

Huey Lewis spoke the truth.  It really IS hip to be square.  First we had the swagger wagon parents (see below if you are unfamiliar with them. You will be sad they're just now coming into your life) and now we've got the Geico grandpa who is soooo hip!  And not the prosthetic kind, although that may certainly apply here too.

Some (fashionably?) square things I do?  Play Boggle, own a shirt with a picture of my dog on it, quote Huey Lewis and the News, watch the Disney channel, and french cuff my jeans.  Just kidding about that last one.  I also tell lame jokes.  But you already knew that.  Here are a ton of videos starting with the Geico grandpa, a commercial I borrowed from my friend Margi at The Maverick Crafter who had it on her blog yesterday.

What hip and square things do you do?

Here's To 7 More Years

It's my anniversary! Well, our anniversary I guess. Jim and I have been married 7 whole years. We celebrated by eating too much food and then going to our friends' for a bonfire, where we defied our guts' protests by eating and drinking even more. Nothing says "I love you" like S'mores and wine, right? It was fab.
All this anniversariness got me thinking about what commercial couples most exemplify my own marriage. Here's what I came up with:

Jim and I are all about teamwork and keeping each other fired up:

We also think we're pretty badfanny:

Lucky for him, Jim is not one to check out the ladies (blatantly at least). But we do keep each other in line:

Happy Father's Day Swagger Dads!

No. No! It is too funny! Too funny for television apparently, because I've never seen it on the tube. My super helpful husband stumbled upon it and scored himself beaucoup points (and more importantly (?) a coveted shout-out on Ad Bits!) While I love the Taco Bell music video, (see 8/07/09 post: http://adbits.blogspot.com/2009/08/my-taco-bell-my-love.html) because so often it really is all about the Roosevelts baby, this vide-ad kicks TB's a**. My favorite parts? I love the dangling paci in the beginning, the slo-mo bouncing diapers, the mini piano (which we have, and I'm just curious. How are my babies supposed to achieve their protegee-ness when they only have four keys to work with? Just wondering.), and I love the cupcake reference because like Swagger Mommy, I take an unfounded pride in my cupcake decorating skillz. Holla.
