My little Molly is brave. Every day she reminds me she isn't scared of anything, namely, sharks, T-Rexs, quicksand, or the big bad wolf. But she isn't afraid of more um, probable things either. Being in front of a crowd? No, I've seen her hop on stage to perform at church (embarrassing, but I certainly wasn't going up after her!). She has never had stranger anxiety- in fact I wish she would discriminate just a bit more. Dogs don't scare her and being alone in the dark is a big adventure. As you may remember from this post, creepy baby dolls don't phase her.
So I didn't think twice before taking her to Tangled even though it was rated PG. She was SO excited (and hello! A new Disney princess? So was I!). She bounced through the previews in delight (did you know they're making a movie of Justin Bieber's life? I looked over and she was pumping her fist in excitement- apparently his fame has now penetrated the preschool crowd) The entire movie was going great. I wouldn't hesitate to use the word enthralled here. She was absolutely enthralled. At the climatic moment at the end I briefly thought, "this could be scary for a 3 year old". I look over at Mols. She is shaking in fear. Tears are pouring down her face. I frantically pull her onto my lap, "I want to go home now" she cries "I want to go home NOW!" My heart broke for her!
We did tough out the last (less than) two minutes left and she seems to have no memory of the "part at the end". She is in love with Rapunzel and more vain than ever about her hair, showing great favor to other blondes. (I swear I don't know where she gets this. Do I have any redhead readers? Holllllaaaa!)
So I guess the moral of my story is: even seemingly unshakable three year olds can be shook. Have you guys taken your kiddos to see Tangled yet? How did they react? It really was a darling movie.
Speaking of scary, has Burger King finally abandoned their masked king commercials? I sincerely hope so- I vote for more Whopper Jr's escapades and other funny ads like this one:

King Me.
Best BK Commercials- Buns Down: 10/14/09
I know, I know! I just blogged about people in funny costumes yesterday! But it got me thinking about the hilarity that is the Whopper Jr. I am actually off the Burger King right now because of their creepy masked King commercials,
and also because I am convinced they are using a lower quality (and dark!) meat now in my beloved chicken sandwich. (I allow myself one every decade as they are absolutely disgusting for the ol' ticker). But all this doesn't mean I don't get my kicks off guys in burger costumes:
Truly, they cannot have too many bun puns. I laughed at every last one. What's more is that Whopperness is apparently a recessive gene as Mom and Sis are fleshy (as opposed to... meaty?).
So here and now I am starting my campaign to get creepy King off my screen and the Whopper family on screen and into the hearts of Americans. But not literally. Because too much of that stuff will kill you. Really.

If I Didn't Answer When You Called....
I made it through Friday the 13th in one piece! It had its ups and downs- let me just highlight one up and one down for you:
Up: Um, did you flipping SEE who commented on my post yesterday?!? Caroline Leavitt!!! The author of Girls In Trouble, one of the books I recommended a while back. Her visit to Ad Bits made my whole day! I'm not sure how she stumbled upon my little blog, but I am insanely pumped. Of course, I am now ultra-aware of my all over the place writing style, my character building (i.e. there is none), and my foreshadowing, allusions, and symbolism (again, I got nothin'). I get inexplicably starstruck around authors. Someday I'll tell you all about my attending the Decatur Book Festival, where I made such witty comments as, "Oh, right! Nothing like a baby's butt!" (that was directed toward Chuck Klosterman, who was very kind and patient as I waxed poetic about my kid's hiney). Another doozie was: "Do you remember me? Or am I not a person of significance?" (then I laughed loudly because I was trying to make a joke about something the author said in his talk- I got quite the pitiful look). So ramble, ramble, babble, babble- authors intimidate me, but I'm still happy to see them stopping by my blog!
Down: Jim had to kick the girls and I out of the house for a while because he was doing some crazy, messy project involving insulation and we needed to be out of the way. The girls and I were starving so we headed to Burger King. I'm not wild about BK, but desperate appetites call for desperately fast food. The meal was successful (after a lovely family gave up the only high chair in the place for us). Molly choked and spit her lemonade across the table at me; Adrienne learned how to clink cups and do "cheers". Just another meal in the life. Afterward I stopped for gas and then grabbed for my phone, and grabbed again, and again. No phone. It was immediately clear my phone was wrapped up in our greasy, salty, ketchupy napkins and sitting in the BK garbage. Um. Oops. I was too humiliated to go back for it so my ahhhhhhmazing husband went back for me. Ah, well. If that's the best Friday the 13th can do then it's wussier than I thought!
Naturally, I've got a BK commercial for us to enjoy today (and bonus! the creepy-a** king isn't in it!)
